CNC Machining FAQs – Precision, Lead Time & Quality Answers
Find answers to the most common questions about our precision CNC machining services, capabilities, and quality standards.
1. Have you ever experienced delivery delays?
Yes, we have had delays. We’re a small shop and things happen — machine maintenance, material delivery hiccups, or workload spikes. But when it happens, we handle it this way:
• We notify the client at least 3 working days in advance — never on the due date
• We provide a clear explanation and a revised delivery date
• We explore overtime or reroute to minimize the impact
• If the delay is our fault, we cover the extra shipping cost or offer compensation
We don’t promise zero delays. But we promise that you’ll never find out on the due date.
2. Can you hold ±0.01mm tolerance on all materials?
±0.01 mm is achievable on most materials we machine (stainless steels, aluminum, tool steels such as 1.2379, 1.3343, 1.2601 and copper alloys). For exotic alloys like Hastelloy, it depends on the specific geometry — we quote per drawing and give you honest feedback upfront. We don’t promise blindly, we review your drawing and tell you what’s achievable before we quote.
3. How do you guarantee consistent quality and full order traceability?
The whole production process is digitally recorded via our Heihu MES system, covering incoming material inspection, CNC machining, in-process dimensional testing and final shipment check. We use Nikon profile projector and TESA height gauges for batch inspection. All production data is securely stored long-term in the Heihu MES system, allowing full traceability of each component throughout its production cycle.
4. Do you have minimum order quantities?
We support low-volume prototypes and mass production orders. There is no strict MOQ. We specialize in high-mix, small-batch precision CNC machining to meet your different development stages.
5. What is your typical lead time?
Regular lead time is around 10 days, depending on part complexity and quantity. We reserve 10-15% flexible capacity for urgent orders. We provide a clear delivery date with every quotation and update you proactively if anything changes.
6. Which file formats do you accept for quotation?
We support STEP, IGES, STL, SolidWorks, AutoCAD DXF/DWG files. 3D models are required for accurate quoting; 2D drawings with tolerances are necessary for production and inspection.
7. How do you protect my designs and intellectual property?
We take confidentiality seriously — we are already under a strict NDA with our semiconductor client. We are happy to sign your NDA before any project starts. Your drawings and data are treated as confidential and stored securely.
8. Can you provide material certificates and inspection reports?
9. What surface finishes can you provide?
For tooling and die components, we commonly apply Tufftride (salt bath nitrocarburizing), black oxide, induction hardening, and electroless nickel plating. We also support PVD coatings (TiN, DLC) for wear-resistant applications. For general CNC parts, anodizing, passivation, and plating are available. Additional finishes available upon request.
10. Do you have ISO certification?
We are currently implementing ISO 9001-compliant quality procedures. In the meantime, we have been audited and approved as a Tier 1 supplier by leading semiconductor manufacturers — their quality standards are among the most rigorous in the world.
